BVMRF’s Mission

BVMRF advances research and education activities to enhance the quality of care and health for Veterans. We strive to serve our veterans with the same loyalty, honesty, and integrity they displayed serving us.

At BVMRF, we recognize the selfless gift Veterans have given through their service to our country, and that as our nation’s heroes, they deserve the best health care opportunities available. We support this by:

  • Administering extramural funding in support of biomedical, clinical, and rehabilitation research activities at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center (JJP VAMC) and the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System (VA HVHCS). BVMRF-administered research focuses on Veteran specific issues and facilitates Veterans’ access to the latest medical treatments and state-of-the-art technology they wouldn’t otherwise have access to.

  • Supporting education activities aimed at improving VA personnel’s performance in their duties and increasing Veterans’ and caregivers’ health awareness, such as knowledge in diabetes and other chronic disease management. Health education activities administered through BVMRF are conducted by VA healthcare providers trained to engage Veterans with the culturally competent care former service members require.

Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that every Veteran in our community has access to the best quality of care and is empowered to make healthy lifestyle choices to enjoy an optimal quality of life.
