Statistical CoRe
To support providers and clinicians interested in conducting research at James J. Peters VA Medical Center (JJP VAMC) and beyond, the Bronx Veterans Medical Research Foundation (BVMRF) has established the BVMRF StatCore that will provide critical support in study design, data management, statistical analysis, and regulatory compliance.
StatCore aims to address a critical gap in research support. Access to research personnel with expertise in study design, data management and statistical analysis is essential for conducting research; however, not all investigators have such resources readily available. In addition, while the VA maintains extensive data repositories, researchers often struggle with the complex process of obtaining, extracting and preparing these data for analysis. StatCore will provide more clinicians and researchers the ability to engage in research and answer important clinical questions by facilitating access to knowledge, resources, and tools that are necessary to navigate the regulatory, data extraction, and statistical processes of research.
A central component of this support will be assistance in navigating the VA Data Access Request Tracker (DART) application process to facilitate access to sensitive, VA-owned data from the Corporate Data Warehouse through the VINCI Workspace. The StatCore will also aid to retrieve, clean, and curate these data, as well as provide statistical support to analyze the data.
